It’s with heavy heart’s that we have to say goodbye to our beloved pastor and friend. Service for brother Paul Maness will be Saturday October 12, 2024 at 2pm at the church. Visitation will be 12pm-2pm. Internment will follow at Potter’s Cemetery.
Our History
Int the year of 1918, a small group of residents of this area came together, in a small frame building which stood on the same plot of ground on which we meet today, for the purpose of forming a Baptist church. Since the beginning it has been known as The South Chapel Baptist Church and was a part of The Southern Baptist Association until about 1970, at which time it became an Independent Missionary Baptist Church.
Down through the tears, this church has remained a strong force against evil, it has aided the poor, fed the hungry, ministered to the sick and brought countless souls to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Women’s Bible Study
Calling all women! Come join us Thursday nights at 6:30pm at South Chapel Church for our Ladies’ Bible Study. This is a great opportunity to grow in your faith and make new friends. We’ll be exploring the Bible, praying together and engaging in meaningful conversations. All are welcome, regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey. We hope to see you there!

“Thank you for visiting the website of South Chapel Baptist Church. Our church is an old-fashioned. Baptist church where everybody is somebody and Jesus is Lord.
My name is Paul Maness and I have been blessed to pastor our church since July 16, 2017. I was saved at Victory Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN where brother Herman Anderson was the pastor.
God saved me April 8, 1973 and called me to preach July 22, 1973. I have endeavored to preach and to teach the Word of God by the power and leadership of the Holy Spirit.
I invite you to come and be a part of our fellowship.”
